Healing Inner Wounds
Later in Life

For decades, I lived a full life, unaware of the hidden effects of my past. Today, I advocate for inner healing by sharing my story to raise awareness and support women who are ready to begin and trust God with what still hurts.

It is never too late to break the silence within and begin healing.

What we carry matters.

We can build a good life and still have places within that hurt. Over time, some pain becomes so familiar that we learn to live with it. What we bury and overlook can continue shaping how we think, feel, love, and even how our bodies respond, often without us realizing it.

Becoming aware can change what we see.

A woman with a story to share.

For years, I was busy living my life as a wife, mother, and professional, all while carrying emotional pain from my past. I had learned to live with it in silence, unaware of how it was affecting me. Then, midlife circumstances stopped me in my tracks and forced me to look inward.

Seven years ago, I made a decision that would change my life.

It wasn't about writing a book or starting a business.

It was a decision to heal.

My Healing Journey

What began as a decision to heal became a journey deeper than I ever imagined. A midlife health crisis led me to search for answers and discover an unexpected connection between my physical heart and the emotional wounds I had carried for decades.

That discovery led me to examine my whole life, spirit, soul, and body, with God at the center. What I learned changed how I understood my past, my health, and what healing truly means.

In time, those experiences found their way onto the page and became Crying Ink.

Never too late to heal.

I found the courage to break the silence within and address what the past left behind. One of the greatest lessons of my healing journey is that we can choose to step into our healing, grow more aware, and trust God with what hurts. Choosing is how we move forward and truly care for our whole selves.

You don't have to heal alone.

Navigating a difficult season without someone who had walked the path before me was lonely. That experience sparked a passion, and I became what I once needed: a guide and a source of support. That’s why I created The Johnnie Woods Connection, a space where women can belong, connect, and be encouraged.

Healing can feel overwhelming when you don’t know where to begin. Faith in God, professional support, and your willingness to do the work can lead to lasting change. Along the way, people who understand what you’re going through can make all the difference.
